According to Yahoo News, Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Friday that it had raised nearly $53 million in online small-dollar donations following his conviction in the New York hush money trial, claiming the verdict had energized his supporters “like never before.”

The record-breaking fundraising total averaged more than $2 million per hour, according to the campaign.

Senior campaign aides Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles stated that over a third of the contributions came from new donors, highlighting an “outpouring of support from patriots across our country.”

They described the Thursday court decision as a “sham trial verdict” and reported that the “digital fundraising system was overwhelmed with support,” causing temporary online delays due to the high traffic from small-dollar donors. NYT says.

As of Friday evening, the campaign had amassed $52.8 million in donations for the day.

A jury convicted Trump on Thursday on all 34 charges of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal during the final stages of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Prosecutors argued that Trump had an affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels shortly after his wife Melania gave birth in 2006 and later paid hush money a decade later to prevent the scandal from affecting his campaign, subsequently creating false paperwork to conceal the payment.

Trump is scheduled for sentencing on July 11 but is expected to appeal the verdict.

“Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats with their election interference political witch hunt have awakened the MAGA movement like never before,” LaCivita and Wiles stated.

President Joe Biden has refrained from commenting on the trial, and there is no evidence of any involvement by him or his administration in the investigation, which was initiated by New York state, not the federal government. told by The Hill

Trump has a history of leveraging scandals to his advantage, and his campaign website redirected visitors to a fundraising page labeling him a “political prisoner” shortly after his conviction. However, the page crashed for about an hour due to the overwhelming surge of supporters on WinRed, the official Republican Party donation platform.

Trump frequently frames his legal challenges as a fight against the “deep state” and Biden’s administration, portraying himself as a martyr willing to sacrifice his freedom for his supporters.

In April, he compared himself to South African anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela for the second time and has also likened himself to Jesus Christ.
