The deaths of a California couple were ruled a homicide after they were found to have died from blunt-force trauma to the head. Neighbor Dan Sparks, 62, was charged with two counts of murder after their remains were discovered in a homemade concrete bunker beneath his leveled home. told by The NY Post.
According to another neighbor, Tammie Wilkerson, Sparks harbored hatred towards the couple over a tree on their property line. When police attempted to arrest him last month, Sparks triggered an hours-long standoff, during which he tried to take his own life with a rifle that misfired.
The remains of the missing couple were later found in the bunker, alongside “bags of evidence.” Sparks, who pleaded not guilty, is being held without bail and is expected in court on October 18.
