Donald Trump’s Grievous Comments About Widow Draws Amusement from Guests: ‘I’d Much Rather Have My Husband'”

Donald Trump reportedly made controversial remarks about the grieving widow of a man who died at one of his rallies, turning her tragedy into a source of amusement for his dinner guests. The recording, obtained by The Guardian, stems from a private dinner Trump held on August 10 in Aspen, Colorado, where he recounted a meeting with the wife of Corey Comperatore, who was killed during a shooting at a Pennsylvania rally in July.

During the dinner, Trump allegedly recalled handing the widow a check, to which she responded, “This is so nice, and I appreciate it, but I’d much rather have my husband.” Trump then reportedly remarked, “Now I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same,” adding, “At least four couples here would have been thrilled, actually.”

The gathering took place at the opulent $38 million home of art collectors John and Amy Phelan and featured several high-profile guests, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), gambling mogul Steve Wynn, and billionaire Thomas Peterffy. Notably, Trump flew in on a private jet once owned by the disgraced financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

During the course of the meal, Trump is also said to have engaged in an expletive-laden tirade against undocumented migrants, alleging that “smart, very streetwise” leaders globally are deliberately sending convicted criminals into the U.S. to destabilize the nation. He further mentioned a supposed incident—denied by the Democratic Republic of the Congo—where more than 20 people allegedly came to the U.S. after being released from prison. told by The Daily Beast.

In a purported exchange with U.S. officials, Trump claimed that these individuals, when asked about their origins, replied, “None of your f—ing business what we did,” describing them as “murderers.” Acknowledging that he may have overstepped, Trump reportedly said, “I hate to use that foul language.”

Continuing his remarks, he stated, “These are the toughest people. These people are coming in from Africa, from the Middle East…the bad parts…the only thing good is they make our criminals look extremely nice.” He further claimed that they made “our Hell’s Angels look like the nicest people on earth.”

Trump, who continues to deny his 2020 electoral loss to President Joe Biden, also used the opportunity to portray Vice President Kamala Harris as a significant threat to American democracy, declaring, “If we don’t win this country’s going to hell.” He concluded with a dire warning: “This could be the last election we ever have, and it’s an expression that I really believe.”
